Are you in love yet, moms?
I promise everyone -everyone- loves a buttery, cheesy slider. And they're so easy to make your own, so no matter what you like, you can use this recipe as a guideline to some good food.
How to make the best Garlic Butter Ham and Cheese Sliders Ever

Slice the rolls in half horizontally, keeping the rolls together.

Layer on a good, good amount of that ham and cheese then top with the top half of the rolls.
What's in that Garlic Butter Sauce
The buttery sauce that you slather all over? It's so good: minced onion, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, a little dijon, sesame seeds, poppy seeds with some salt and pepper.
This is the stuff: the garlic butter mixture is so flavorful and brings great crispy texture to the little sandwich tops. It also runs down the sides of the rolls and gives the bottoms this amazing crispiness. So. Good.

Don't like the sweetness of Hawaiian rolls? Use soft potato rolls or homemade dinner rolls instead.
Don't like ham? Use thinly sliced turkey, chicken, roast beef, whatever you want.
Use your favorite cheese, too! I love provolone, mild cheddar, Havarti, elemental, muenster, even gruyere when I have it in my fridge. Baby Swiss, too. Oh, how I love a good baby swiss cheese. You'll want a really melty cheese and a lot of it!
How to keep your baked ham and cheese sliders warm at a party
Here's a great trick to keep your sliders nice and warm during a party using a slow cooker or instant pot:
Pour a small amount of water into the slow cooker or instant pot, it should be maybe ½ inch tall. Turn it onto it's lowest heating setting, or "warm". Place a steamer basket or rack into the appliance so your sliders won't touch the water.
Wrap the sliders with aluminum foil, then put them onto the steamer basket and close the lid.
Now your ham and cheese are nice and warm until ready to eat!

Can ham and cheese sliders be frozen for later?
Freeze up a couple of pans of these ham and cheese sliders. Just make the sandwiches without the butter sauce and don't bake them. Wrap them up in plastic wrap and foil, then keep in the freezer for up to 3 months! Thaw in the fridge and then proceed with the rest of the steps.
You can also make them a day ahead, pouring on the sauce and baking them the day of.
Before your next party or play date with a gaggle of hungry kindergartners, make sure to serve some ham and cheese sliders. Everyone will love them!

Hot Ham and Cheese Sliders with Garlic Butter Sauce
Ingredients
- 1 package, 12 rolls sweet Hawaiian rolls
- 1 lb cooked deli ham, thinly sliced (leftover holiday ham works well!)
- 16 slices havarti cheese, sliced
Butter Sauce
- 8 tablespoon 1 stick, 120g unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon 5 mL Worcesteshire sauce
- ½ tablespoon 8g dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon 9g poppyseeds
- 1 tablespoon 9g white sesame seeds
- ½ tablespoon 5g garlic powder
- ½ tablespoon dried minced onion
- Kosher salt and freshly cracked black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Using a sharp serrated bread knife, carefully slice the rolls in half horizontally. Place the bottom half of the rolls into a 9x13 baking dish.
- Layer cheese over the bottom of the rolls, then layer ham fully over the cheese. Repeat cheese and ham, ending with a last layer of cheese. Cover with the top half of the rolls. Optionally, you can cut the individual rolls now to separate the sliders and have the butter sauce penetrate between each sandwich better.
- In a small microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter. Whisk in the Worcestershire sauce, dijon mustard, garlic powder, poppyseeds, sesame seeds, minced onion, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Add in parsley, if using.
- Slowly pour the butter sauce over the rolls, using a pastry brush or spoon to evenly spread the mixture over the tops. Let the sauce drip down the sides to the bottom, this is needed for crispiness,
- Cover the baking dish with foil and bake covered for 15 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for another 5 minutes or until tops are slightly crispy and toasty.
- Serve the hot sliders immediately.
