Sweet and Juicy Blueberry Vodka Lemonade
This is the quintessential summer cocktail: easy, fruity, and refreshing. I start with a batch of my homemade lemonade...and sometimes I just grab the store lemonade, especially for parties. And make a quick simple syrup flavored with farm-fresh blueberries. That's all!
Equal parts sweet and tart, no floating bits from any muddling, just a gorgeous, refreshing cocktail that’s made for these slow, hot August afternoons before school starts and the pace picks back up.

It pairs beautifully with something summery and easy like a peach burrata caprese salad or sharing a carne asada torta with my hubby.
And if you’ve got a little syrup left over, save it. It’s perfect in a gingery blueberry mule or making a blueberry lemonade mocktail for the whole fam.
Cocktail Ingredients
Full ingredients, measurements, and printable instructions are in the recipe card at the bottom of this post.
- Fresh Blueberries - it's blueberry season and you know I'll always tell you to support your local farmers! But if you can't find any, frozen blueberries are perfect for this recipe.
- Granulated Sugar and Water to make the syrup
- Fresh Lemons, Sugar, Water - to make my homemade lemonade. Or if you have store-bought lemonade in the fridge, use it!
- Vodka - use your favorite (we use grey goose in this)
- Ice, Lemon Slices, Mint Sprigs for garnish
Let's Make this Delightful Blueberry Lemonade Cocktail
Step 1

Make the Lemonade
Make your favorite batch (could it be my homemade lemonade recipe? ;)) or buy your favorite from the store. You'll need plenty of lemons!
Step 2

Make the Blueberry Syrup
Simmer blueberries, sugar, and a splash of water until the berries burst and the syrup turns deep purple, about 8–10 minutes. Strain and let it cool. See? So easy.
Step 3

Shake (or Stir) the Cocktail
In a cocktail shaker or glass with ice, combine vodka, blueberry syrup, and lemonade. Shake it up if you want it extra cold and frothy, or just stir for a quick mix. Pour into your favorite glass filled with ice.
Step 4

Garnish and Serve
Garnish your cocktails with lemon slices, a sprig of mint, and some blueberries for easy yet elegant serving.
Variations to Try
- Make it a sparkling mocktail - No vodka! Instead top your lemonade off with club soda or lemon-lime soda for a bubbly, family-friendly version.
- Swap the liquor - gin gives a botanical edge while bourbon gives this a deeper flavor.
- Add an herby twist - fresh thyme or basil is so good here! Add it to the syrup or lemonade.

Make Ahead Tips
- Blueberry syrup- You can make the syrup up to a week in advance, just store it in an airtight jar in the fridge. It also freezes beautifully if you want to double the batch.
- Lemonade - Homemade lemonade keeps well for 4–5 days in the fridge. If you’re using it for a party, you can make it the day before and keep it chilled in a pitcher or sealed container.
- Batching for a crowd - Combine the lemonade, blueberry syrup, and vodka in a large pitcher without ice and store it in the fridge up to 24 hours ahead. Right before serving, give it a good stir and pour over ice. Garnish with lemon slices and fresh mint just before folks arrive to keep everything looking fresh.
