Whew, y’all, it is hot out here. We’re in the middle of a full-on heatwave, and I’ve been bouncing from photo shoots at White Oaks Estate (so dreamy!) to getting tossed around like a rag doll at the first 4DX screening of How to Train Your Dragon in DC.
And baby, that theater threw me around like I was flying on Toothless himself. 10/10 highly recommend, but don't buy the popcorn, it will go flying!
All that to say, I wanted a fruity summer drink in my hand. A refreshing drink. A cold one. A pretty one. Enter this Sparkling Summer White Sangria, your new go-to easy pitcher drink for warm-weather entertaining.

This white sangria with fruit is fizzy, lightly sweet, and dangerously sippable aka exactly the kind of summer cocktail recipe I crave when the heat kicks in.

Make this Easy White Sangria All Summer
I filled this sangria to the brim with fresh pink pineapples from Mister Gary the Watermelon Man down in Woodbridge (give him a visit if you're in the area!), blackberries, strawberries, peaches... all the good summer stuff at the farmers' market right now. She's my 2025 pick for the drink of the summer!
Perfect for backyard hangs, brunches, cookouts, or whenever you need a pitcher cocktail that looks as good as it tastes. She’s vibrant, she’s fruity, and she solves that “what do I serve at my summer party?” question real quick.
Why You'll Love this Fruity Sangria Cocktail
- It’s perfectly balanced. This isn’t one of those overly sweet sangrias loaded with soda or juice. The ratio of crisp white wine to orange liqueur and fruit keeps the flavor bright, layered, and refreshing.
- You won’t end up with mushy fruit. The recipe walks you through when to add each type of fruit, so delicate berries stay fresh while firmer fruits like peaches and citrus soak up all the flavor.
- Customizable and make-ahead friendly. Swap in whatever fruit you have on hand, and let it chill until party time.
Key Ingredients to Make Sangria
Full ingredients, measurements, and printable instructions are in the recipe card at the bottom of this post.
- Summer Fruits and Citrus - this sangria is great for all your favorite fruits in the summer months. And of course, it's not a summer sangria without citrus fruits, berries, and peaches!
- Peach Schnapps - I love the bright sweetness this adds, though Triple Sec will always work just as well.
- Your favorite White Wine - Use your favorite wine, after all you're drinking it! But if you need some advice: stick with crisp, dry whites like Sauvignon Blanc, Albariño, or Pinot Grigio. Skip anything oaky or sweet since the peach schnapps and fruit bring plenty of sweet flavor.
- Something Bubbly - this can be club soda, a little Sprite, some spicy ginger beer, or a sparkling white wine.
How to Make the Best Summer White Wine Sangria

- Step 1 | Add your sturdier fruits like the orange slices, peaches, and pineapple to a large pitcher. If you're not doing an overnight or long soak, the delicate fruits like berries (or melons!) can be added as well.
- Step 2 | Pour in your white wine and peach schnapps over the fruit and let them soak up the wine. Stir to combine and let sit in the fridge.
- Step 3 | Stir in the delicate fruits and bubbly right before serving.

Variations
- Change up the fruit. Can’t find fresh peaches? Use nectarines or mango. Out of blackberries? Blueberries work too. Just stick to a mix of firm and delicate fruit for the best texture. And frozen fruit is always a great option.
- Make it zero-proof. Sub white grape juice or a non-alcoholic white wine for the wine, and skip the schnapps. Add a splash of peach nectar or juice to keep the flavor fun.
- Try it with rosé. For a more floral, berry-forward version, use a light dry rosé instead of white wine. It’s especially pretty with the strawberries and blackberries.
- Swap the liqueur. Instead of sweet peach schnapps, you can go for citrusy triple sec or warm brandy for a different flavor.
- Different bubbles. Use lemon lime soda for a citrusy-sweet addition or ginger beer, which is spicy and vibrant. You could also top things off with a sparkling wine like prosecco to keep everything wine-focused.
Chef's Tips for the Best Sangria
- Chill everything first. Start with chilled wine, cold fruit, and refrigerated soda so your sangria doesn’t need a mountain of ice to stay cool.
- Let it infuse, but don’t overdo it. 2 to 4 hours is the sweet spot; enough time for the flavors to meld without turning the fruit to mush. The blackberries can turn the sangria murky if left in there too long.
- Scoop fruit into every glass. Don’t let all that beautiful boozy fruit go to waste at the bottom of the pitcher. Spoon a little into each glass so everyone gets a taste.

Make Ahead Tips and Storage Tricks
This sangria is made for prepping ahead. The base (white wine, schnapps, and sturdy fruits like pineapple, peaches, and citrus) can be mixed and chilled overnight.
For the delicate fruits, letting it sit for 2 to 4 hours is the sweet spot. It gives the flavors time to infuse without turning the fruit to mush.
Hold the bubbles. Don’t add the soda/ginger beer/sparkling wine until just before serving to keep it fizzy.
