Fruity Summer White Sangria Recipe

My Summer White Sangria is sunshine in a glass, y’all. We’re talking crisp white wine layered with pineapple, juicy peaches, berries, and oranges: a.k.a. all the best fruits summer has to offer. A splash of peach schnapps brings sweetness and depth, while letting the fruit do all the talking. It’s light, sweet (but not too sweet!), and so refreshing when served ice-cold.

Ingredients

  • 1 (750 mL) bottle crisp white wine like Sauvignon Blanc or dry Pinot Grigio, chilled
  • ½ cup peach schnapps or triple sec or brandy
  • 1 cup fresh pineapple slices
  • 1 cup peaches sliced (fresh or thawed from frozen)
  • 1 orange thinly sliced
  • 1 lemon or lime thinly sliced (optional)
  • 1 cup strawberries hulled and halved
  • ½ cup blackberries
  • 1 (12 oz) can or bottle sparkling water or club soda chilled
  • Fresh mint for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  • In a large pitcher, combine the chilled white wine, peach schnapps, pineapple, peaches, orange slices, and lemon or lime slices (if using). Stir gently, cover, and refrigerate for 2 to 4 hours to let the flavors meld.
1 (750 mL) bottle crisp white wine, ½ cup peach schnapps, 1 cup fresh pineapple slices, 1 cup peaches, 1 orange, 1 lemon or lime
  • About 30 minutes before serving, stir in the strawberries and blackberries. This keeps them fresh, juicy, and prevents them from breaking down too much.
1 cup strawberries, ½ cup blackberries
  • Just before serving, pour in the sparkling water or club soda. Give everything a gentle stir. Serve over ice, making sure each glass gets a scoop of that gorgeous fruit. Garnish with fresh mint if you’d like.

Notes

Chef's Tips for the Best Sangria

  • Chill everything first. Start with chilled wine, cold fruit, and refrigerated soda so your sangria doesn’t need a mountain of ice to stay cool.
  • Let it infuse, but don’t overdo it. 2 to 4 hours is the sweet spot; enough time for the flavors to meld without turning the fruit to mush or the blackberries making the sangria murky.

Make Ahead Tips

  1. The base (white wine, schnapps, and sturdy fruits like pineapple, peaches, and citrus) can be mixed and chilled overnight.
  2. For the delicate fruits, they can be added the day of.
  3. Don’t add the soda/ginger beer/sparkling wine until just before serving to keep it fizzy.
