Honey chipotle salmon is the ultimate one pan weeknight recipe: four ingredients, twenty minutes, and a hot oven are all you need to whip up dinner tonight!
This recipe is something my mama taught me when I was about 15 years old. It was super simple, and it literally had three ingredients besides salt and pepper: salmon, ground chili powder, and honey. Then in the oven it went and out came glorious, glorious dinner in less than 20 minutes. A recipe that uses a couple of everyday ingredients that everyone has in the pantry and takes no prep work?!
This is that recipe, except I use ground chipotle instead of chili powder and add garlic powder because we love the flavor it brings to such an easy and simple dish.
My family loves this honey chipotle salmon recipe so much, and I love making it because of how fast, simple, and easy it is. There's just something about this being a weeknight dish that is so delicious and goes great with almost anything you pair with it that makes it a monthly staple every meal plan.
When you buy the salmon fillet, make sure to have it skinless as the skin will not be crisp like a pan seared salmon. Ask the monger to skin the fish for you, if you don't know how to skin a fish yourself.
When you season the salmon, season it generously with the salt. It's a big piece of meat, don't be too shy. Flavorless food is not the business, y'all.
Warning, the honey will burn on the parchment paper. Don't worry about it, that'll happen since it's sugar in a hot oven. The salmon will be glazed with the honey mixture and be tender and flaky and moist by the end of the cooking process, but that burnt honey that ran off the salmon will be left on the paper, it won't affect the flavor.
Trust me, next time you see a nice fillet of salmon, grab it and make this dish. Your weeknight menu will thank you!
Serve this with:
Red Beans and Rice
Lemon Garlic Sauteed Asparagus
Chimichurri Roasted Potatoes
Strawberry Spinach Salad

Honey Chipotle Salmon
Honey chipotle salmon is the ultimate one pan weeknight recipe: four ingredients, twenty minutes, and a hot oven are all you need to whip up dinner tonight!
Ingredients
- ¼ cup honey
- 2 tsp chipotle powder
- 2 tsp garlic powder
- 1 whole fillet fresh salmon, skin off
- 1 tbsp kosher salt
- ½ tbsp freshly cracked black pepper
Instructions
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
In a measuring cup or microwave safe bowl, mix honey, chipotle powder, and garlic powder, then heat in the microwave for 30 seconds until loose and liquidy.
Season salmon with salt and pepper on both sides, then place onto the parchment lined baking sheet. Generously brush or spoon the honey mixture over the entire salmon fillet until every part is covered in the honey.
Cook in the oven for 18-20 minutes. There may be a bit of smoke from some of the honey running onto the paper and burning, don't worry you are not burning the salmon and it will not affect the salmon.
Cut into serving sizes (4-6 oz pieces) and serve.
