Turn juicy watermelon into an easy to make and refreshing homemade soda! A glass of cold, sweet, fizzy watermelon soda balanced out with tangy lime juice is exactly what you need to cool off and enjoy the summer.

Honey, I don't think I've been this hot since we lived in Texas. Whew, when summer hits ...it hits HARD.
We're going through our last heat wave (hopefully) but I am enjoying this last bit of summer the only way I know how: fresh fruit, because in a couple weeks it'll be nothing but apples, cinnamon, and baking galore!

Easy Watermelon Soda Recipe!
Our kitchen has been full of fruit all season, but what can beat the taste of a slice of watermelon straight out of the fridge? Well, bubbly watermelon soda might. I
t's a quick and easy super bubbly version of watermelon agua fresca, with fresh lime juice and super fresh fruit juice. And you don't need a fancy soda machine to make homemade soda; we're simply stirring in some carbonated water. Sweet, easy, and simple!

Ingredients Needed for this Drink
Full ingredients, measurements, and printable instructions are in the recipe card at the bottom of this post.
- Fresh Watermelon - buy a nice round watermelon with a big yellow field spot. These are the sweetest!
- Cold Water
- Lime Juice - use fresh lime juice. The bottled stuff tends to be way more tart.
- Granulated Sugar
- Sparkling Water - I always have cans of unflavored club soda or seltzer water on hand and I absolutely suggest you do, too. It makes making mocktails and cocktails so much easier.
- Mint or other herbs - for garnish, but it does add a slightly minty flavor!
How to Make Watermelon Soda

- Blend the diced watermelon, water, lime juice, and sugar in your blender.
- Strain the puree through a fine mesh sieve into a pitcher filled with ice and discard the pulp.
- Pour in sparkling water and stir. Boom! Smooth and delicious watermelon soda!

Variations and Pro Tips
- Change the sweetener - I don't suggest brown sugar because of the molasses content, but try stevia, monk fruit, or another that you love to give this drink your desired sweetness.
- Make it grown up - a watermelon vodka cocktail is a great spin on this recipe. You'll be sipping all summer long!
- Try flavored sparkling water - bust out the LaCroix of your choice to give your soda another boost of flavor.
- Make a watermelon soda float with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a rainbow sorbet!
- Add a flavored syrup - I make flavored simple syrups all the time for things and you can find them in posts like my strawberry lemonade, peach sweet tea, and so many cocktails.
Make Ahead Instructions
If you're making this ahead of time: Do not add the carbonated water. Use a lidded pitcher to keep the watermelon juice fresh for up to 2 days before serving. Add the seltzer water to serve.

Equipment I Used
- Fine-Mesh Sieve
- Blender - a high powered blender isn't necessary, but it will pulverize that melon DOWN, honey!
- Pitcher - this pitcher is my dear favorite!
- Glasses - I got these glasses from Amazon. They're too cute!
