10 awesome grill and chill worthy recipes that are ready to party with you this summer!
Another year, another truckload of fireworks coming into the house. And another cook out in the backyard! What are y’all’s plans for the fourth, if you are here in the States? If not, what are your plans for the rest of the season where you are? Brian and our neighbor have already brought in a store’s worth of fireworks to shoot in the open fields here, and we’re going to be partying up a storm!
We are smoking some turkey legs, breaking out the cotton candy machine, the ice cream machine, and that little weird machine that makes snow cones, to get ready for our neighbors and friends to come over and celebrate our nation’s birthday.
If you haven’t planned out your summer backyard bash’s menu yet, no worries! Here’s 10 recipes from around the food blogosphere to take on, and take to the party:
1. JESSICA N WOOD: Grilled Peaches and Pound Cake Skewers
Oh, she had me at ‘honey butter’. If this doesn’t sound like a fun and mouthwatering way to serve an essential summer fruit and classic pound cake! Make a bunch of these and throw ’em on the grill to bring dessert to a crowd quick and easy.
2. COOKING IN STILETTOS : Huli Huli Chicken
Not looking forward to the caveman/brontosaurus style ribs on the grill? Tell the mister to slide over, this tasty Polynesian twist on grilled chicken is taking the stage.
3. THE FLAVOR BENDER : Mango and Grilled Shrimp
Get fancy and serve your guests some shrimp on a Triscuit, honey! Before the party starts coming inside, throw these shrimp on the grill and top with tropical mango and cream cheese on a cracker. I can see myself munching on these while the fireworks are going off.
4. THE SEASONED MOM : Strawberry Pretzel Fluff
Here’s one for the kiddies (and the kiddies at heart). Sweet, salty, crunchy, creamy, with marshmallows, strawberries, and pretzels. This dessert won’t be sticking around for long so make sure to hide some for yourself!
5. THE BBQ BASTARD : Red Eye Ribs
This mister didn’t know the South had a secret in our ribs: coffee! This rib recipe will turn the tables on Uncle Rick’s same ole ribs from last year, promise.
6. MELANIE COOKS : Easy Homemade Sangria
Every summer party needs sangria, right? Just don’t let Aunt Barbara get into it, before she starts dancing on the table, again.
7.CHEF IN THE BURBS : 4th of July Icebox Cake
A cake made out of cookies and frozen whipped cream? This is a must-make for the dog days of summer!
8. READY TO YUMBLE : Baby Potato Salad with Bacon Vinaigrette
Every barbeque needs a nice healthy salad. This one happens to be made of potatoes and bacon.
9. FOOD DONE LIGHT : Healthy Smoked Beef Brisket
Something needs to be in the smoker all day, how will everyone know you’re having the best party in the neighborhood if they can’t smell it from a mile away?
10. SWEET TEA & THYME : The Southern Arnold Palmer
Hey, there were no non-alcoholic drinks from my contributor’s list, so I needed to bring one in for the non-drinkers and the kiddos. This mix of tea and lemonade is one of the best drinks to serve at a party. And with a little alcohol, it’s a John Daly!
