Happy New Year everyone!
I decided that in 2018, I’ll set up the On the Porch, where it’s just a few things that is going on and that I’m enjoying as of late.
Ready? Let’s get into it.
#1. We played White Elephant this NYE at my in-laws and my hubby, Brian, ended up with this panini press. Which he bought for the game and I was totally coveting. It was meant to be. Along with a spinning brush. Brian ended up with a bar set. White Elephant was a total win!
And someone ended up with an air mattress. I’m still dying of laughter! Who bought an air mattress as a gift?!
#2. Do not ever try to find a place to eat spontaneously on Christmas. We still found a place but the wait was an eternity!
#4. Okay, these pink champagne gummy bears?! There’s a store called Seraphina at the mall that has these, but making them at home seems so better! #giftideas #valentinesdayideas
#5. Our Christmas was so much fun! We partied with friends on the 23rd, and I brought out a garlic-herb prime rib roast and Gentleman Jack Bacon Mac. Total hits with the crowd.
And we finally got to see friends I haven’t seen since high school; this is why we love being back in South Florida.
#6. Yep, we are doing the cliche New Year’s resolution: to get to the gym. A new gym opened up about a month ago down the street, and I love gym classes. Especially spin classes. I will still probably go walk in the park, but now I don’t have to worry about whether or not it’s too hot to workout outside. It’s seriously hotter than a jalapeno’s butt crack most of the year here.
#7. Two. Different. Medical scares. in 2017. As much growth and progress came in 2017, I worked myself so hard that I neglected myself physically and mentally. 2018 will be bringing more self-care.
I’ve made it a goal: I’m going to be more selfish. I’m going to say ‘no’ more. I’m going to get off the blog and blog-accessories (aka social media) and go on vacation this year. I haven’t gone on a vacation…basically ever.
I’m going to do things that make me happy. And I’m not taking no for an answer.
#8. I don’t know why I’m so terrified of going live on Facebook. I’ve chickened out twice. But I’m going to do it this year. This month, even. I suppose my worries are my voice (I do not have a great ‘audio’ voice. Also, living in Miami you tend to get a weird lilt in your voice.) my inability to multitask well, and just being awkward. I’m an awkward person over video, but I’ll just push through it. I’m working on it, I’m working on it.
#9. Pastor Steven Furtick. His sermons are phemonenal.
#10. It snowed in Florida. I am not here for it. I don’t want the snow in Florida. When I want snow, I’ll move back up north. I have no snow clothes. None. I am not prepared for any weather under 60 degrees.
