Three very simple secrets that not only boosted my engaged Pinterest viewers by one million viewers in four weeks, but also lessened my workload as a blogger and brought in more income.

A big thanks to Viraltag for sponsoring this post! Working with brands I believe in to bring you guys great content couldn't happen without your support, so thank you guys for all the love!

My average monthly engaged reach on Pinterest throughout the 'slow' times of the year, is about 1.5 million now. After implementing these secrets, I brought myself up to 3 million viewers during the slowest time of the year, with only 2.5k followers.

Pinterest is my number one traffic bringer, as a blogger. It brings in a ton of traffic, and I love, love, love it.

In order for Pinterest to work for you, you need to understand that it's like Google-meets-Facebook, in a way. It's a search engine, where people look up what they're looking for...but on the other side, the side you are on, my blogger friend, it's a social plane.

Which brings me to secret number one.

Secret Number 1: Get on Group Boards

In another post on how blogger to blogger interaction is your ticket to grow, I told you to find us all over social media. Nagi runs the FBC Group, my blogger friend Jasmine Lukuku runs the Black Food Blogger Club, It's a Lovely Life runs their Money Making Blog group and they are all on Facebook!

They all also run group boards. Heck, even I run a group board, join here!

What's a group board?

A group of people all posting to one board, which is seen by all the people who are following them (and that specific board). And everyone repins each other's pins to other group boards or personal boards, making your pin reach farther. And when someone who has a ton of followers repins a pin of yours, you could end up with a viral post on your hands and a ton of new followers.

This happened with me and my gnocchi with bacon cream sauce. It's now at the top of the google pages, top of the Pinterest searches. Along with other factors, which I'll discuss in another post, repins by popular Super Pinners is a fast and easy way to get serious traffic, and therefore, serious income.

See how useful group boards are?

One catch: everyone is posting. A lot. Every day. So you posting your smash burger recipe once on one group board isn't going to work. It's going to be pushed down with a bombardment of other pins. So you need to join multiple groups, right? Pin to them, and pin different pins a lot, throughout the entire day and even through the night (can't forget the other side of the world, right?) so that your pins can be seen by your followers and by the other members of the group boards you're in.

But who got time for that right?

Secret Number 2: Schedulers are your best friend

Remember how I said I reached over one million more people in less than a month?

I have schedulers to thank for that, mostly Viraltag. Social media scheduling is a blogger's best friend.

Sit down and set up hundreds of pins, not even just your own, but others' pins too (that's important!) and through algorithms or by hand, schedule out your pins to post all day, every day, everywhere.

There are a ton of schedulers like Tailwind, which is super popular, Hootsuite, etc.

I personally use Viraltag, not only because it worked for me and showed results, in fact it shot me up 1,000,000 monthly viewers in just four weeks (they have a 14 day trial run, but are awesome and gave me another 2 weeks free!) but because they are super blogger friendly and most importantly, down right affordable

In fact, they work with bloggers to give you six months of Viraltag for free.

I'm working with them on another sponsored post and am affiliated with them, because they are seriously focused on helping bloggers out and making their scheduler user-friendly and I admire that in a company. So check them out if you're looking for a good, affordable scheduler, especially if you're a newbie blogger and can't exactly invest a ton of money just yet.

Viraltag isn't just for Pinterest, I also use it for making Instagram and Facebook schedulinga breeze. But it also works with many other social media accounts, I just love using it to keep my Pinterest account moving with consistent content, especially with those fast moving group boards.

Secret Number 3: Rich Pins

Super important to running your blog like a boss: make sure you are on the 'business' side of things!

Turning your Pinterest account from 'personal' to 'business', gaining access to your analytics for your account, and getting those rich pins in place. They help your potential readers learn a little more about your post (or recipe, which is why I am so pro-rich pin for food bloggers!) so you have more legit consumers and readers coming to your site and help your pins stand out a little more. Learn more about rich pins here, on the Pinterest website.

In the end, what does this equate to? More traffic, more ad income, more ammo for you while pitching to brands, more backing to show your worth and shake off impostor syndrome. More popularity, more opportunity, and more income. For less time on the job? Oh yeah.
